The match on Anfield is coming soon :D I expect a great victory, but I'd be happy  with a draw too :D I just want to see these bunch of guys in the next round too:D Of course I'd like to see Stevie playing more =) By the way! Xabi's shoot at the end of the first half was awesome! It could have been a very-very-very big goal! :-O :D

Veszprém overcome tragedy

Sunday was not just an ordinary match day in Veszprém as MKB hosted the Spanish Ademar in the first round of the Main Round. At this stage of the competition every point can be decisive in the quest for the quarterfinals.

However, this game was not only about the two points or about the Main Round ranking table. The players, fans and the club of Veszprém lost the Romanian Marian Cozma exactly a week ago in a tragic incident in a restaurant where the player was stabbed to death.

As the manegement and players of Veszprém decided to play the Champions League game according to schedule and not to postpone, the players had little time to mourne their friend.

As Lajos Mocsai, coach of the team, put it: ”We had six trainings this week, three of them acceptable preparation for this level.”

The players travelled to Romania for the funeral of Cozma on Friday by plane and they had to be mentally and physically ready for the game on Sunday.

Trail of Peace

The fans paid their tribute to Cozma with a trail or silent march through the city of Veszprém just before the game. Thousands have joined and arrived to the sports hall with 45 minutes before throw-off.

The game began in a special atmosphere. Fans dressed in black, farewell message to Cozma and a present from Ademar. Both teams entered the court in applause – even if it was unusually respectful for all athletes. And of course, as every other game, it began with a minute of silence.

Fight for the two points

Veszprém and Ademar have fought a tough and fair battle. It was interesting to see the reactions of the players in every situation where usually you get arguments or some quarell. This time it also happened, but a friendly handshake also followed.

The hosts started better and held on to the lead in the entire first half. At one point they even took a five-goal difference, which was quickly equalised by Ademar.

Goalkeeper Peric was in a superb form once again and Eklemovic and Vujin were dangerous whenever they had the ball.

Sarimento and Stranovsky tried to balance it out and they made it very difficult for Veszprém in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Then came Perez, G. Iváncsik and Eklemovic and the hosts could keep the two points at home.

Tears of the winners

Winning is not always easy to take. While the full house of Veszprém Aréna gave all the players standing applause, some of the players burst in tears.

The fans and the players celebrated together and dedicated the victory to the late Marian Cozma.

Veszprém coach Lajos Mocsai is never short of words, but today he also struggled to talk about handball:

”This was a very difficult task and we could only face it because these are highly intelligent players. The game today had to send a message with the means of sport.

”It is sad that such a tragic event had to show people what a fantastic value Marian Cozma was as a person.

”The team played for each other today and I have to thank the fans who joined the ’Trail of Peace’ in the city.

”The game today ended with a Catharsis and though I took part at many World Championships and Olympic Games, this match today will remain the most memorable handball game of my career.”

Sorry for not writing for a long time, but I wasn't able to post an entry to livejournal in the past few days. I was filled with shock and sadness. I think'll post an earlier online article here, because I can't put down in words what I feel. =(

The handball players of the Hungarian MKB Veszprém KC gathered in a club to celebrate a family event of one of the players. Later on during the night, the players were attacked by a large group of strangers armed with knives.

The Romanian player of the club, Marian Cozma, was stabbed in the heart and died.

His team mates, Zarko Sesum and Ivan Pesic, have also been seriously injured. Sesum suffered a broken chin and Pesic a kidney injury.

The two seriously injured players have been operated and their condition is stable. They remain under constant care in the hospital of Veszprém.

Australian Open, Men's Final:
Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 7:5, 3:6, 7:6 (7–3), 3:6, 6:2

Congrats Rafa, but poor Roger =(
I couldn't cope with my tears when I saw him crying. Ahh, man. Roger did his best until the 5th set. When he won the 4th, I started to be optimistic, because he seemed to be more confident. But unfortunately he couldn't do it. For me, Rog is still the number one and I think he will win his 14th Grand Slam, because he's a great Champion. Rafa was really nice. He felt sorry for Roger and he said that Rog is a great champion and one of the best in history and and he will beat Pete Sampras’ 14 titles for sure. It was nice to see when Rafa put an arm around Roger's sholder and tried to console his friend. Thank you Roger, thank you Rafa, it was a fantastic final. Rog, I still believe in you! You are the best! Come on!

LIVERPOOL - Chelsea

It's one of the most important derbies of the year, I think. Our Liverpool is now 3rd on the league table, a victory against Chelsea would bring us back to the 2nd position and we could continue chasing ManU... I really trust the guys, Captain, lead the team on the way of victory! Come on Reds!!!

In the last few days I've met some nice comments and posts on livejournal. I was happy, because they were about Liverpool reserves. I'm also interested in the matches of the reserves, because there are 3 Hungarian players in Liverpool's reserve team =D I'm very proud of them, it's nice to have such great talents like Krisztian Nemeth, Peter Gulacsi and Andras Simon. Hungary took part in the U19 Europian Championship last summer, and these young talents brought home a bronze medal and made us really-really proud. Nemeth and Gulacsi were the leaders and best players of our team. All in all it's nice to hear that you like these boys in England. Thank you very much Liverpool Fans!

I've just arrived from school, but switched on the TV immediately. I've been f**in happy since that moment :D:D I saw Roger's crushing victory over Del Potro =D (6-3, 6-0, 6-0) :) Roddick'll be the next opponent, best wishes, Rog! ;) Hey-hey-hey :D Our Grand Slam man is still there and marches on =D Today he played irresistible again. If he continues in this way, and keeps fit there'll be great battles in the following matches.

OMG!!! What our KING did in today's match... that was f***in amazing! Coming back from two sets-to-love to win is something unbelievable... I was started not believing in him, but he came back in the 3rd and played irresistible till the end. This is why I like Roger so much, his persistance, his strength, his mentality is stunning... OMG... I can't put here in words what I feel now. I think this match showed everybody, that Roger shouldn't have been written down. He's still the greatest of the world! I'm absolutely optimistic and can't wait till the next match! Del Potro will be the next opponent. Hope, that match will be easier.

I feel soooo excited =) The Men's World Handball Championship has started yesterday and Hungary's match against Australia is coming sooooon =D Hungary - Australia, Today at 6.15 pm (CET). Come on guys, the world's eyes are on you! Come on Hungary, let's go for a medal! =)

Today was really interesting. The roads were extremely slippery because of the endless sleet. I didn't want to stay at home because I wanted to take part in the "penguin effect" XD (Every person walks like a penguin 'cause the roads are slippery). Some students and teachers were staying at home today as there were no buses running. I 've just heard on the TV news that tomorrow will be worse, so some of my friends and I'll stay at home tomorrow. It's dangerous to travel at early morning, when roads are extreeeeeemely slippery. In some schools, there will be a break tomorrow. =D It's a nice and funny day, isn't it? xD

Wooo-hoooo =D I have bought some Liverpool souvenirs! =D A pair of red wristbands and a red water bottle :D I also saw a clock in the shop, but I didn't have enough money to buy it... =( Maybe next week. =D I'll ask my father for some "help" =D

I have just finished studying literature... We'll have a test tomorrow =S. It's a really-really busy week. School is divided into two terms there, and the end of the first half will be on next week, so we have to work hard in these 2 weeks to correct our bad marks. Fortunately I'm satisfied with my marks, hope my half-term certification marks will be satisfying too.
